Oriental Lodge No. 9371 Festival Board to Welcome the Year of Tiger
On Mon 15th February 2010, Oriental Lodge celebrated the Year of the Tiger with a second degree ceremony starting at 6.30 p.m. in Corbridge Road Masonic Hall. After which, over 150 brethren made their ways in their cars quickly to Palace Garden Restaurant in Stowell Street to dine and to be entertained.
During the Chinese New Year Banquet, the brethren were entertained by Bro. Edmond Ng who is a member of Oriental Lodge, and his Choi Lee Fut Kung Fu students. Their lion dance was superb and thoroughly enjoyed by all oriental brethren and their many guests present.
In fact Mon 15th was the second day of the Chinese New Year. On the previous day, Sun 14th February there was a record turn out in Newcastle Chinatown to celebrate the Year of the Tiger. The celebration began at noon at the Chinese Arch with the Lion and Unicorn dances and then they paraded down Stowell Street and Bath Lane calling upon each restaurant, shop and business.
Brethren who are born in the Year of Tiger, are those who were born in 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974 or 1986. Their characters are courageous, active, self-assured, optimistic, passionate and independent. They are also rebellious, dynamic, unpredictable and quick tempered but considerate. The Tiger is a natural born leader and symbolizes power, passion and daring. Brethren born in the Year of the Tiger are generally well liked because of their charming personalities.
