Welcome to Oriental Lodge No. 9371

A Bridge of Friendship

Oriental Lodge is the brainchild of the late W. Bro. Peter Chen MBE. It was set up mainly to recruit members from the local Chinese and Asian communities into Freemasonry. Oriental Lodge was consecrated on Tuesday 29th May 1990 in Corbridge Road Masonic Hall, Byker by the late R. W. Bro. John Sherwood Stephenson, the Provincial Grand Master of Northumberland.

The Oriental Lodge’s logo has 2 Chinese characters in the centre which mean ‘Oriental’. The Lodge’s motto (above) consists of 4 Chinese characters meaning ‘A Bridge of Friendship’.

There is also a Royal Arch Chapter called Oriental Chapter No. 9371 which was consecrated on 19th December 2005.

Please note that Oriental Chapter is the only Masonic order officially associated with Oriental Lodge!

Visiting brethren are very welcome to attend our meetings, which are normally followed by a festival board to be held in a Chinese restaurant in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Therefore visitors are advised to contact either a Lodge/Chapter member or the Lodge/Chapter Dining Steward (in Contact Us) before attending.
